Cricket Skills

Sport Waikato and Hamilton Cricket visited HES and helped us with our cricket skills.
We enjoyed learning and playing a game against Room 15.

National Shakeout Day

At 9.15 am on Thursday Morning we participated in our National Earthquake drill.
We practised what to do if there was a real earthquake.

Totara Team Activities Week

For the last week of term, Totara Team was divided into four groups
and each afternoon we went to a different activity and classroom.
 We experimented and experienced
Creating Tessellation Patterns, Sport and Symmetry Art,
Master Chef Junior and Paper Crafts.

In Room 16 we completed our Plastic investigations by creating
Plastic Bottle Face Masks,
which we made with paper-mache,
then painted and decorated with plastic.

We had our two of our fantastic dad's help us make
Plastic bangles
and our bottle top mosaic mural for our sandpit.

What a creative week!

Spring at HES

We explored our school and looked carefully
at all the changes we could see.
We noticed all the changes Spring brings.
We listened to Spring poems and wrote our own.
We used photos and Comic Life to publish our poems.

Stu Duval visit

Stu Duval came to visit Hamilton East School.
He told stories and shared his cartooning skills with us.
We clapped, laughed and cheered all through the two days he worked with us. We were very lucky.
Check out our cartoon drawings!

Melting Plastic

Riley's dad works in a plastic factory.
He brought some plastic pellets for us to experiment with.
We mixed coloured pellets into the clear pellets.
We heated them and watched for changes in the pellets.

The oven started to smoke a lot!
We saw the plastic start to soften and melt
BUT we didn't get it hot enough to mix the coloured pellets together.
As soon as we took it out of the oven
the plastic cooled down quickly
AND got hard again.
