Making Focaccia Bread

Today we worked with Whaea Monika to make Focaccia Bread. We created such a delicious smell Pippa had to come all the way down the hill to try a piece of our bread.

Science investigation

We were wondering how important it is to wash your hands before we eat or cook food.
First we put gloves on and put a piece of bread in a sealed bag.
Next we passed a piece of bread around the class circle, then put it in a bag.
After that we washed our hands with water, and then passed the bread around again.
Finally we washed our hands with soap and passed the bread around.

Look what happened to the bread!

We all decided to wash our hands with soap before we try anymore cooking!

Measuring

Measuring and comparing in groups.
How tall are you?
How far can you reach?
How far can you jump?
Who can stretch the furthest?
Who has the shortest jump?

National Poetry Day

To celebrate National Poetry Day Room 16 created a class poem about our Cross Country Race

Cross Country Day
– by Room 16 Hamilton East School

Run to Jono the Energizer man,
“Follow me,” he shouts.
Jog in a circle,
Turn, turn, turn.
Can we have a drink of water?
Jog to the white line.
On your marks, get set…
Clap!
Run, run, run.
Can we have a drink of water?
Remember your L-shaped arms,
Run like the wind.
You can do it!
Puff, puff, puff
Can we have a drink of water?
Don’t stop, you can do it!
Wobbly legs like jelly,
Peachgrove students run beside to help.
Go, go, go.
Can we have a drink of water?
My heart is pounding,
Go Room 16!
One more hill, almost there,
Cheering, shouting,
Yay! The finish line!
Mrs McK, pleeeease can we have a drink of water?
